Silver Stallion is of course made famous by 80s country super group the Highwaymen, see a live version of them doing it (with beautiful classic Nashville Tele playing) here. It has inspired some great covers, most notably from Cat Power and another one I really like by The Heavy Horses, it was written by Lee Clayton, this is the original.
